NFL Predictions 2014 – Playoffs

NFL Predictions 2014 – Playoffs

Here are my predictions for the playoffs of the 2014 NFL season. I started doing this last year, and I must say I was quite accurate. I correctly predicted the final records of 5 teams (Seahawks, Dolphins, Colts, Oakland, and Minnesota), if you don’t count Minnesota’s tie. Also I correctly predicted 4 out of the 8  division winners, and 7 out of the 12 playoff teams. I know, I know, you are amazed at my accuracy!! With nowhere to go but up, I will predict this year’s NFL standings.

Here are my other preditions: AFC Predictions NFC Predictions

Thursday Randomness

I was checking the latest news on my iphone last night, and this was one of the top stories!  I couldn’t stop laughing, despite my wife feeling sorry for the guy.  Seriously though, you can’t not laugh at this story.  And I love the re-enactment photo.

Teacher OK after crashing into bear on a bicycle

The Associated Press

bear MISSOULA, Mont. – A middle school teacher suffered some bruising and a big scratch on his back after he struck a bear while riding his bicycle to school.

Jim Litz said he was traveling about 25 mph Monday morning when he came upon a rise and spotted a black bear about 10 feet in front of him. He didn’t have time to stop and T-boned the bruin.

He tumbled over the handlebars, his helmet hit the bear’s back and the two went cartwheeling down the road.

The bear rolled over Litz’s head, cracking his helmet, and scratched his back before scampering up a hill above the road.

Litz’s wife drove by shortly after the crash and took her husband to the hospital. He hoped to be able to return to teaching science at Target Range Middle School on Friday.

Also, you need to check out this video.  You won’t regret it.  If you’re in a hurry, just fast forward to 1:30 in and enjoy the verse.  Good stuff.

P4180058 On another note, we set 3 mouse traps in our basement last week, and I went down to check them last night, and there were only two!  Still trying to figure out how that happens.  Do you think that there is a mouse walking around my house with a trap stuck on his head?  What if the trap ends up in our living room with a note saying, “More peanut butter or else!” and my Chihuahua is tied up next to it?  Any suggestions.

Finally, I know you are all waiting on the edge of your seats to hear the outcome of my first week of fantasy football.

I won 1 and lost 1 in my two leagues, and finished 10 – 6 with my game picks.  Tomorrow I’ll post my Week 2 picks.

Fall, Fantasy Football, and the Buckeyes!

It’s fall!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fall means some great things:

1.  NFL Football

2.  Ohio State Football

3.  Fantasy Football

4.  Here in Ohio, the leaves are changing and it’s getting a little cooler which I love.

Anyway, I thought that the two people (thanks to my wife) that read my blog, would love to hear about my obsession with football.  I’m in two fantasy football leagues this year, and a pigskin pick ’em league.  Throughout the course of this football season, you will get to hear about these things!  I know your really excited.  Here is my team on ESPN.com.  It’s a 12 team league with some friends of mine.  We drafted together on August 2nd.  Way too early for a draft, but I benefited from it I think.  I got the 3rd pick in this draft.

Round

1. RB LaDainian Tomlinson, Chargers

2. RB  Laurence Maroney, Patriots

3. WR Torry Holt, Rams

4. RB  Edgerrin James, Cardinals

5. WR Calvin Johnson, Lions

6. DeAngelo Williams, Panthers

7. TE Chris Cooley, Redskins

8. QB Donovan McNabb, Eagles (great pick up in the eighth round!)

9. WR Kevin Curtis, Eagles

10. RB Jerious Norwood, Falcons

11. WR Sidney Rice, Vikings

12. QB Tarvaris Jackson, Vikings

13. WR Ted Ginn, Jr., Dolphins

14. DF Jacksonville Jaguars

15. PK Adam Vinatieri, Colts

16. TE Zack Miller, Raiders

17. QB Brett Favre, Jets (at the time of the draft, he was still fighting with the Packers.  I took a chance and it came out huge!)

18. WR Amani Toomer, Giants

The only move I’ve made since the draft was to put Kevin Curtis on my IR and pick up Vince Young off waivers (not sure who dropped him but I’m okay with that).  I’m currently searching for trades for one of my QB’s

Today is the day that football returns.  Thursday night football with the Giants and Redskins.

My pick:  NY Giants.

The rest of my picks will come tomorrow.
